以 SQL Server 2008 提供的受信賴、有坚守的智慧型資料平台為基礎建置而成的
SQL Server 2008 R2，提供眾多新的改進功用，可幫助貴組織担忧地調整資料庫作
業，提升 IT 坚守，以及提供受打算的自助服務 BI 。此版本采集應用程式和多重
伺服器打算、複雜变乱處理、主要資料服務和应用者報告等方面的新功用和增強功
能。

SQL Server 2008 R2中新增了 SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel 與 PowerPivot
for SharePoint Server 20一0。PowerPivot 為一新的 BI 技術， 透過上述兩項功
能可讓应用者以体会的 Excel 及 SharePoint Server 东西從任何來源萃取資訊，
同時 IT 人員也可偵測及打算应用者所设立的 BI 解決方案。

微軟引用 IDC 的預測指出，資料庫市場將從 2008 年的 2４0 億美元成長到20一3年
的320億，成長率為33.４%；同時微軟 SQL Serve 的市佔率亦已超过IBM及甲骨文。

除了傳統的標準版及企業版外，SQL Server 2008 R2新增了Microsoft SQL Server
2008 R2 Datacenter及Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse
。其中，資料核心版本為一高办事的資訊平台，結合 Windows Server 2008 R2 可
允許客戶在具備多達 2五6 個邏輯處理器的系統上執行資料庫，而且可轉移到支援
Hyper-V 與 Live Migration 的虛擬資料核心。微軟指出，這將協助企業可轉向虛
擬化且根據需求制造的私有雲端。

别的新增的元件還有 SQL Server 2008 R2 Master Data Services 及 SQL Server
2008 R2 StreamInsight， 前者協助客戶在異質系統中维持資料的不合性，後者則
可支援少量的变乱串流處理。

微軟显露，SQL Server 2008 R2 亦將 SQL Server 2008的能力透過Microsoft SQL
Azure 紧锁到雲端，它提供了不合的法度設計模式、通用的功用與东西，並透過推
廣雲端資料服務设立新商機。比喻近来發表的 Dallas 程式，即屬於採用 Windows
Azure 制造的產品，允許開發人員及应用者存取各種資料及內容
